Sellman Park
Sellman Park is a 10 acre facility which is located directly behind the Madeira Middle School. Between the school and the city property, it includes one baseball diamond, one soccer field, two lit tennis courts, playground equipment, a picnic shelter, basketball courts, picnic grove, concession stand, and a sand volleyball court.

McDonald Commons Park
McDonald Commons Parks, located off Dawson Road just next to the City garage, is a 17 acre facility which includes three baseball fields, three soccer fields, two tennis courts, playground equipment, a picnic shelter, a concession stand, batting cage, and wooded areas.

Nelle V. Hosbrook Bird Sanctuary
The Nelle V. Hosbrook Bird Sanctuary is a 2 acre wooded area along Miami Avenue which has a short trail and picnic benches.

There are several activities that the City of Madeira and the parks and recreation board sponsors every year. In the spring, thousands of colored eggs are scattered on the Madeira High School Field for the children to find at the Easter Egg Scramble. In May, the city and its residents honor our veterans at the annual Memorial Day March. This event begins at the Madeira Middle School with a solemn walk down Miami Avenue to Dawson Road at McDonald Commons where it ends with a brief ceremony on the Veteran’s Memorial Plaza.

We kick off the summer with our Wiffle Ball program, followed by the Independence Day parade and fireworks, the Madcap Muppets Production and the annual Splash Party that is a huge hit with the kids in July. We offer concerts in the woods in June.  Also in the month of August, we end the summer season with the annual Street Dance, where residents gather to listen to the band perform, dance on Miami Avenue, talk to friends and neighbors, eat a bite, and have fun before the start of a new school year.  We enjoy the last bit of good weather with the Fall Costume Parade and PlayDate in October.

As we come into the holiday season December marks the St. Nicholas Sleigh Ride where St. Nick makes his way through the streets of Madeira passing out goodies to all the children. There’s Letters to Santa, Pictures with Santa, the Holiday Home Decorating Contest and, last but not least, the city, in conjunction with the Madeira Chamber of Commerce, sponsors the annual Light-Up Madeira & Shop Madeira. This annual event is the kick off to the holiday shopping season. It’s a day for shopping and dining at the city’s local businesses, carriage rides, holiday music, and ends with the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Millennium Fountain Plaza.
