Solid Waste & Recycling

How the Program Works
The City of Madeira's contract with CSI/Republic Services of Ohio allows for the weekly removal of (1) 35 gallon container (toter on wheels) of household garbage and yard waste trash. Any additional trash that is to be thrown away must have a $.75 garbage sticker attached to the additional containers or garbage bags.

Recycling occurs weekly at curbside and must be in the recycling bin or 65 gallon recycling toter. Republic Services offers both the bin and the 65 gallon toter that is on wheels for recycling at no extra charge. Please see the general recycling guidelines below for items that can be recycled. Contact the Madeira Administration Office at 513-561-7228 to order a recycling toter; smaller recycling bins are available for pick up at the Administration Office, 7141 Miami Avenue.

Additional or larger containers are available through Republic Services for a fee. Call 513-771-4200 for pricing.

For more details, go to Trash Program Guidelines or call the Madeira Administration Office at (513) 561-7228.

Trash and recycling services are delayed a day when the following holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years) fall within the week; watch for reminders through the City's List Serv system or Facebook page.

Large Item Removal
Once a year the City sponsors a large item pick-up at no cost to the residents. Watch for more information on the date of this annual event.

On regular weekly pick-ups, Republic Services will pick up large items at the curb or edge of street right-of-way. A large item weighing over 75 pounds, such as a sofa, dishwasher, or refrigerator (freon must be removed by a certified technician, label affixed and doors secured shut or removed), will require thirteen $.75 ($9.75) garbage stickers, which can be purchased at the Kroger in Madeira.

Any upholstered items, such as mattresses, box springs, and furniture, must be wrapped in plastic and appropriately stickered.

As a courtesy, please call the Administration Office (513-561-7228) and let them know that you are planning to have large items at your regular weekly pick-up.
