Agendas and Staff Reports are posted one week prior to the meeting. Minutes are posted after they have been approved by the Board and signed by the Chairman.

In May 2017, the voters of the City of Madeira approved a Charter amendment to create a Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA). Any decision of a public official made in the administration of the City’s zoning ordinance may be appealed to the BZA in accordance with the procedures established by ordinance. The BZA has the authority to interpret provisions of the zoning ordinance and to confirm, modify, or reverse the zoning decision of the public official.

Upon application, the BZA considers requests for variances in accordance with the standards established by ordinance. The BZA has the authority to grant relief from the strict application of the zoning ordinance. The BZA may not grant a variance in any case in which the deviation from the existing zoning ordinance is so substantial that it is the equivalent of a change in the zoning district. No variances will be granted and no decision of a public official regarding the administration of the zoning ordinance shall be reversed except upon the affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the commission.
