City crews salt and plow 48-lane miles of Madeira roadways when winter weather hits. Three trucks at one time are dispatched to clear the roadways. Crews concentrate on the main roads first (Kenwood, Miami, Euclid, East Galbraith, Shawnee Run, Camargo, and Dawson), with special emphasis given to steep hills and other dangerous areas. When these routes are sufficiently clear, crews will clear secondary streets and subdivisions.
There is a snow emergency ordinance that allows the City Manager to declare a "Snow Emergency" if it snows more than three inches. This allows the Police Department to remove vehicles from the streets at the owner's expense so that the Public Works Department can effectively and efficiently remove snow from the streets of Madeira.
Please remember when it snows to remove your vehicles from the streets so that the snow can be removed in a safe manner.
